If you’re looking for a blade with an extremely diverse list of cutting applications, including bread, meat, foam, and more, then you’ll want to stick around and learn more about Simmons’ Scallop blade.
When Simmons Knife & Saw was founded, a consumer bread-slicing blade with a Scallop edge was the first blade we ever manufactured. However, after a handful of years, we realized that we could be more successful if we manufactured bread-slicing blades for commercial bakeries instead.
Not too long after that, we found that Scallop blades can effectively cut other applications like foam-rubber and boneless meats as well, which is what many of our customers purchase it for today.
Since our Scallop blades put us on the map in 1946, we’ve learned to standardize the manufacturing process to ensure each Scallop blade is of consistently high quality. Each scallop is individually ground to perfection, which serves to minimize dust and maximize material yield. This consistency in bevel geometry and edge retention provides even cuts with a clean finish every time.
Using high-quality carbon or stainless steel, Simmons can manufacture Scallop blades for bandsaws or reciprocating machines in a variety of pitch options. We can also craft reciprocating Scallop blades in various widths and lengths for those with custom needs. As long as you can provide the length of the blade and a description of the holes, slots, rivets, or holders, we will work with you to create the blade you need.
