Description

Simmons Knife & Saw, a leading manufacturer of high quality band and reciprocating cutting blades since 1946, is seeking an experienced, well organized, customer centric, highly motivated, Customer Service Representative to join our team. We proudly serve the foam, wood, pallet, leather, packaging, metal fabrication and machine shop, and food processing industries.

The successful candidate will have great attention to detail, be able to multi-task and possess excellent computer skills. Hours of this position are 8:30am – 5:00pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare customer quotations.
  • Enter sales orders received by email, fax or phone into ERP system. Obtain and verify all customers' names, addresses, shipping instructions and billing information, part numbers, and specifications of services to be purchased prior to entry.
  • Send order acknowledgements to customers and communicate order status to customer from start to finish.
  • Respond to requests: identifying discrepancies or problems related to customer purchase orders.
  • Check status of orders and/or expedite orders on behalf of customer.
  • Interface with other departments such as production or scheduling to provide answers to customers regarding order status, technical questions, etc.
  • Track customer sales orders and provide proof of delivery to customers upon request.
  • Enter and update information in customer management database.
  • Handle customer complaints and complete all associated paperwork.
  • Assist Regional Sales Manager (RSM) in answering customer inquiries, which includes supporting RSM from the office when they are working remotely.
  • Answer customer service calls. Includes routing calls, screening calls, taking messages, taking orders, giving verbal quotes, answering technical questions, etc.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of inside sales and/or customer service experience.
  • Proficient use of computer system, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong professional communication/correspondence skills.
  • Excellent problem resolution and analytical skills along with being able to exercise independent decision making within established guidelines.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with industrial products helpful.
  • Working knowledge of Goldmine and/or Made2Manage software a plus.
  • Math skills for converting imperial/metric measurements and calculating prices accordingly.

Description

No experience is necessary; all training will be provided on the job. However, previous exposure to a manufacturing/industrial environment is helpful.

HOURS: 6:30am - 3:00pm, Monday through Friday

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Understanding of English language to read work orders

Understanding of ruler

Be willing to be trained to use a micrometer, optical comparator, tape measure and caliper

Understanding of basic math

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Stand, walk, push, pull, lift, reach overhead and bend to the floor

exert 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or

exert 20-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or

exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Near acuity are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts

Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT TOOLS:

Specific measurements looked at include: correct length, quality of cut, quality of weld, coiled properly, cutting and welding correct stock.'

Description

Simmons is hiring a 2nd Shift Manufacturing Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position reports into our Maintenance Supervisor and hours are 2pm-10:30pm.

Simmons Knife & Saw is a leading manufacturer of high-quality band and reciprocating cutting blades since 1946. We proudly serve the foam, wood, pallet, leather, packaging, metal fabrication/machine shop, and food processing industries.

PURPOSE & FUNCTION: To service, maintain, and upgrade existing production equipment and facilities as well as build new machinery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment to ensure safe, proper, and efficient function. Document associated tasks and parts used/replaced.
  • Diagnose problems with mechanical assemblies and repair or replace bearings, belts, pulleys and gears.
  • Identify problems with equipment and complete repairs with minimal downtime or supervision.
  • Make replacement and prototype parts and fixtures by machining and fabrication.
  • Offer technical support to Engineering and Production about equipment maintenance, process improvement, and overall manufacturing excellence.
  • Service, maintain, and assemble small punch press dies and components.
  • Assist in the storage and management of replacement parts and components.
  • Analyze, install, and maintain water, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Make repairs and replace worn or defective parts such as gauges, valves, pressure regulators and piping.
  • Suggest and implement improved designs to existing equipment components and systems.
  • Follow all Safety policies and procedures. Offer suggestions to better protect all employees.

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

Ø Strong mechanical aptitude, including the use of common hand tools

Ø Experience with lathes, mills, and surface grinders preferred

Ø Effective use of measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, thread gages, etc.

Ø Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects at once

Ø 5 years of relevant experience in an industrial setting.

Ø Strong motivation to get things done, solve problems and learn.

Ø Hold firm values and ethics.
